CHARACTERISTICS OF A BIBLE STUDY LEADER
CHARACTERISTICS OF A GOOD BIBLE STUDY LEADER
By Edwin Jardinel
He loves God
And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. (Mark 12:30)And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. (Mark 12:31)
He meditates on God's word daily
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
(Psalms 1:1-2)
He is hospitable
Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
(Hebrews 13:2)
He is faithful
And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
(2 Timothy 2:2)
He is gentle and patient
And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
(2 Timothy 2:24)
He is always ready to teach
And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
(2 Timothy 2:24)
His words are gracious
The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself.
(Ecclesiastes 10:12)
Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
(Ephesians 4:29)
He is appreciative of others' good deeds
Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
(Philippians 2:3-4)
He is a good encourager
Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
(2 Corinthians 1:4)
And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
(Hebrews 10:24)
He has the courage to do what is right
Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.
(Joshua 1:7)
He is persistent in prayer
Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?
(Luke 18:5-7)
He has perseverance
By long forbearing is a prince persuaded, and a soft tongue breaketh the bone.
(Proverbs 25:15)
He is full of faith
And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:
(Acts 6:5)
He is honest
Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.
(Acts 6:3)
He is a good example
Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
(1 Timothy 4:12)
